Safaga

Safaga, as it is commonly known, is located 53 kilometres south of Hurghada on the Red Sea. The port, once called Philotera, was built during the reign of Egypt's king Ptolemy II. The port offers comprehensive beach and sea facilities. It includes serveral tourist villages specializing in diving holidays and a handful of hotels. Groups often hire fishing boats to travel to nearby islands for a friendly fishing competition.
